Life is made more enjoyable and easier by the good relationships we have with our families, friends and businesses. However, sometimes good relationships don’t just happen. We have to take the time to cultivate them, as every party in a relationship has needs, both small and big that must be met if the relationship must work. This is true of short and long term relationships. It’s when these needs are not met that relationships fail. As managers building strong relationships with colleagues and customers alike is critical to success. Failure to pay attention to even the smallest detail can lead to a loss of motivation, loss of productivity and in extreme situations, deliberate sabotage.
